You have been lied to by your Education System!

What is education?

Have you ever asked yourself this question?

Just because you were fortunate enough to study in a good institution, is it enough just to say that you are educated? 🤔 I wonder.

This article deal with the ideas on which our present education system is based upon. It will tell you about things that are crucial to the present-day student, but the education system seems to ignore them.

Let’s deep dive into the topic.

Your degree takes privilege over the learning from the education. Mostly, students study to score well not for learning.

Let’s talk about how the education system is talking less about these things, which should be major of the education:

Applicability

  • The very thing about our education system is that it never talks about applicability of what they are teaching.
  • Recently, I am doing a public speaking course and it involves activities that help me implement the knowledge and the skills I have gained. it talks about applicability.
  • But I cannot see the same applicability of most of the knowledge, which students gain from educational institutions.

Real-life values

Education System will certainly not forget to assess your values. But they will never talk about how to develop those values.

It never talks about living standards which a person should develop by working on these values. Such as acceptance, reliability, compassion, empathy and gratitude etc.

Practicality

You cannot learn to ride a bike by just watching videos on youtube and just getting knowledge. To be able to ride the bike, you need to have practical learning.

now, what education system provides you, is the theory. but they does not give a wholesome experience of practical knowledge. In a nutshell, it’s like they teach you driving bike through YouTube videos, but don’t give you the actual bike to drive.

Due to this, knowledge gained from so-called practical subjects remains a theory in the actual world.

Only focused on teaching

The teacher’s primary focus is majorly on rote learning. Mostly, they want you to mug up concepts and write them on a paper, and that will judge your learning from the subject.

But I have rarely seen education to be leaning towards actual learning. Nobody seems to bother about the in-depth learning and understanding.

Earning money and Investing

I ask you!

What is the contribution of your educational institution towards your earning?

Did they tell you how to earn money? did they ever laid emphasis on earning and investing money?

What only they talk about is a job. They never talk about how to make money and invest it in the right place to grow it. This practical skills is so important yet never taught in classes.

Unconventional Career Options

The emphasis is always laid the conventional career options such as CA, engineering, doctor etc. Due to this, the education system has created a sense of superiority on unconventional career options.

Unconventional career options are not openly accepted by our education system.

Spiritual Aspect of life

Spirituality is something that every human being is born with. Everyone has their journey. But education system cannot see through this and only focuses on the subjective, holistic development which happens through textbooks.

Moral Values

After class 5, the subject of moral science has vanished. I haven’t seen it afterward. Moral education plays a vital role in developing one’s character, and that subject is kept away from students. Morally backward people will not be a nuisance, but also pose a great danger for people. Yet, it is not given its due importance.

Final thoughts

Education System promises a holistic development. They don’t seem to have a growth-oriented approach to help the students. A lot of flaws are yet to be addressed by our education system.

I hope this article has helped you to understand that which things are likely to be not addressed by the education system, and gave an insight about it.
